The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, September 13, 1962
Mrs. Jessie May Swarthout, 72, of State road route three, died at 6 o’clock 
Thursday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she was a patient 
since last Friday.  She had been ill since May.  She was born July 27, 1890 at 
the present residence and was the daughter of Holden and Jessie Benedict 
LeValley.  She was married June 21, 1927 to Kenneth Swarthout who died 
November 15, 1960.  Mrs. Swarthout is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nettie 
Butler of Ionia.

Funeral service will be conducted at Boynton funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m.  
The Rev. Ray R. Fassett of Evangelical United Brethren church will officiate 
and burial will be at Balcom cemetery.
