Ionia Sentinel Standard, 25 Jan 1930

Stephen Swartout, 80, a native of Crystal, and at one time a resident of Ionia, 
died in Indianapolis, Ind., Friday.  The body will arrive on the 1:15 Grand Trunk 
train Monday, and be taken to the Highland Park cemetery, where the services will 
be held in the mausoleum where the interment will be made.

Mr. Swartout is survived by his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Arnold, 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Arnold, and a daughter, Mrs. Burgess, at whose 
home he died.
