She was the widow of William Swartz and had resided in Ionia most of her lifetime. Surviving with Mrs. Todd are a brother, Charles Utess; three grandchildren, Mrs. Vincent George, Fowler; Mrs. William White, Leslie, and Mrs. William O’Rourke, Jackson, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the home and at 2:30 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Rev. R.A. Rook officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. -------------------- Ionia County News, 20 Jul 1944 Mrs. Minnie Swartz, 81, died suddenly Sunday morning, July 16, following a stroke. Mrs. Swartz broke her hip last December 7, when she fell in the driveway at her home, 326 N. Dexter street, and had never fully recovered from the shock. She spent several months in a hospital and convalescent home and returned to the home on Dexter street, where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Richard Todd, just before Mothers Day. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Todd, Mrs. Swartz is survived by three granddaughters, Mrs. George of Fowler, Mrs. White of Leslie and Mrs. William O’Rourke of Jackson; and one brother, Charles Utess, of Ionia. Rev. R.A. Rook officiated at the funeral service held from St. John Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in Highland Park cemetery. Pall bearers were William Miller, William Storch, Harry Snellgrove, Ferd Rochon, R. Schroeder and Enid Brown.
