Mary Belle Curtis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Curtis, was born in Eureka township in 1876. She lived in Belding six or eight years, working in the silk mills for several years, and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was married in 1904 to Richard W. Swartzloff, with whom she lived happily until the final summons called her to the higher life. She leaves besides her husband, an aged father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. R. T. Nicholas, of Chicago, Mrs. Bert Norton, of Smyrna, and Mrs. Ella Bunker, of Eureka, also a brother Barney C. Curtis, of this city. The funeral was held Tuesday at her late home in Eureka, and was attended by a large concourse of friends who came to pay their last tribute to one whom everybody loved. Rev. O. W. Winter preached the funeral sermon and the remains were brought to River Ridge cemetery, where loving hands laid her to rest to await the final summons in that great last day.
