Martin Swears, age 77, an old and respected resident of Ionia county, died at 
his home here Thursday at 11:30.  He was married to Miss Amy Smith of Shiloh, 
who with two children, Archie and Sue Miller, preceded him in death.  He is 
survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Haynor, who has lived with her father 
since Mrs. Swears’ death and Mrs. Eva Edwards of Bushnell, also several 
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. H. S. 
Ellis officiating.  Burial was in the mausoleum at River Ridge cemetery in 
Belding.  Bearers were Wm. Draper, Wm. Mawman, Ernest Allen, Ernie Face, Milo 
Mason and Fred Boltz.
