Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, 3 Oct 1950

Jay Arthur Swiger, second son of Charles and Melissa (Walter) Swiger was born 
in Odessa township Ionia county on September 14, 1889, and died Sunday, October 
1 at Blodgett hospital following major surgery ten days ago.

November 12, 1912, Mr. Swiger was united in marriage to Carrie Speicher, 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Speicher, now living in South Ionia and to 
this union four children, three sons and a daughter, William of Nashville, Mrs. 
Kenneth Tucker of Lowell, Richard and Junior of Clarksville, were born.

Besides the widow and four children and six grandchildren, he is also survived 
by a brother, Fay, of Lake Odessa and a sister, Mrs. Jacob Mohr of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at the 
Congregational church in Clarksville under the auspices of F. & A.M. of 
Clarksville of which he was a past worshipful master.  Interment in the 
Clarksville cemetery.
