JAY SWIGER
Jay Swiger, 87, of Lowell passed away Jan. 9, 2017 at Faith Hospice at 
Trillium Woods surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 14, 1929 in 
Hasting, MI the son of Jay and Carrie (Spicker) Swiger. Jay married Bernice 
Bowen Sept. 16, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1980. He married Shirley 
Shea in 1984. She preceded him in death in 2013. He married Jean Fahrni June 
19, 2015. Jay was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He was also a member of 
NRA.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Jean Fahrni of Lowell; children, Marsha 
(Scott) Hubble of Ionia, Stuart (Judy) Swiger of Alaska, Lori (Rick) Raimer 
of Lowell and Mary Swiger of Hawaii; step-children, Clem (Penny) Shea of 
Grand Rapids, Mark (Carla) Shea of Ohio, Louise (Bill) Jacobs of Florida, 
Dennis (Teresa) Fahrni of Clarksville, Jane (Tony) Martinez of Rothbary and 
Sheri (Randy) Miller of Saranac; 25 grandchildren; and 28 great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bernice Swiger; second 
wife, Shirley Swiger; brothers, William and Richard; and sister, Crystal 
Tucker.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, jan 12, at First Baptist Church 
in Lowell with Pastor John Pickens officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia, 
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice. Online condolences may
