November 7, 1939 - July 16, 2021. She was 81 years old. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gary L. Swinehart; her sons, Chris (Cheryl), Scott (Anne), Brian (Jennifer), and Kurt; daughter, Lynette (Ben) Kirby and Linda Swinehart. She is survived by the light of her life, her 18 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and brother Phillip Agostini. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Fern Agostini and siblings, Sally Griffin, Michael and Louie Agostini. Sue was born and raised in Ionia. She was a lifetime parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She attended Aquinas College and spent her 40 plus year career educating the area's youth teaching preschool, kindergarten and primarily first grade. Sue and Gary were married on June 10, 1961 and raised their 5 children in Ionia. She retired in 2001 and spent time traveling, playing golf and bridge with her closest friends, endless hours of games around the dining table with her grandchildren, hosting family dinners on Sundays, cheering on Michigan State Spartans and the Ionia Bulldogs and playing with and caring for her many grand doggies. Her love of family and strong faith in God will forever endure in all those she leaves behind. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Brown at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m wit a rosary being prayed at 7:30 p. at the Lehman funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. Rite of Committal will be at Mt.Olivet Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SS Peter and Paul, Ionia Community Awareness, or Faith Hospice in memory of Sue.
