Roy Benjamin Switzer, Sr., 61, of Belding, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at
United Memorial Health Center, Greenville.  He was born March 8, 1941, in
Vestaburg, the son of Harvey and Margery Hunt Switzer.

Roy had served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a
member of the Greenville Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 203 and Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 4406 in Belding.  He married Pat Gavit on March 5, 1977, in
Belding.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, George Patterson; and a
great-grandson, Chaunsi.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Switzer; their children, Tim and Bobbi Jo Gavit
of Belding, Roy Jr. and Mary Switzer of Rapid City, Larry Switzer of Hersey,
Kristi Nielson of Grand Rapids, Rebecca Stratton of Vestaburg; his
grandchildren, Dezeree, Dominique, Demitria, Zachary, Heather, Alicia, Nicole,
Tiffany, Travis, Timothy and Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Shaka and
Jaedyn; one sister, Vicki Switzer of Memphis, Tenn.; and a niece, Susanne DuBois
of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home,
Belding, with Father Troy A. Nevins officiating.  Interment is in Ferris Center
Cemetery, Vestaburg.  Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart
Association.
