Sykes, 76, for 27 years a dealer in agricultural implements in Muir, died at his home Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock following several months of poor health. Mr. Sykes was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sykes, pioneer agriculturalists. He was born in North Plains township across the highway from Lyons township. He was reared there and when a young man continued with the calling that had been that of his father. When middle aged he left the farm and went into business in Muir, having lived in that immediate vicinity all of his life. Several years ago he retired from the implement business, but his interest never waned in community or commercial affairs. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Highland Park mausoleum. Mr. Sykes is survived by his widow and three children, Mrs. Sherman Ely, of Lansing; Roland Sykes, of Muir, and Mrs. William Dilley, of Ionia; a brother, Jack Sykes, of Portland, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Hines of California.
