Rev. Edwin Mendenhall will officiate and interment will be at Otisco cemetery near Belding. Mr. Sykes died Sunday afternoon at the Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids. Born in Montcalm county September 30, 1895, he was the son of Frank and Ella Heliker Sykes. A veteran of World War I, he was a life member of the American Legion post of Saranac. He attended the Church of Christ Community church of Saranac. He was a charter member of the Ionia Fishing and Hunting club. He was a farmer in Easton township and also worked as an attendant at Ionia State hospital and at one time worked for the agricultural department. He was married November 26, 1917, at Cook corners to the former Gertrude Morse, who survives. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Morse Sykes of Belding and Joe Sykes of Saranac; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Geiger of Ionia, and Mrs. June Peabody of Haslett; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial has been established for the Heart fund and the Saranac Community church.
