Catherine Szymanski, age 80, of Ionia passed away May 2, 2009 in Ionia.

She was born March 6, 1929 in Ionia the daughter of Lloyd and Frances (Hoople) 
Keihl. Catherine married Anthony Szymanski June 17, 1950. He preceded her in 
death July 27, 1998. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Ionia 
where she was involved with the ECW. She was also involved with Big Brothers 
and Big Sisters. Catherine was a very loving and giving person.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Tracy) Szymanski of Ionia, Toni (Duane 
Ashley) Szymanski of Vanderbilt and Lori Szymanski of Ionia; stepsister, Bonnie 
Pierce of Ionia; grandchildren, Brett, Casey and Nicholas and great-
grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madisen and Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A memorial service will be held Thursday 3:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia with Father John Crean officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives at the funeral home Wednesday 4-6 p.m. Anyone wishing may make a 
memorial contribution in Catherine’s name to Kidney Foundation or Ionia Animal
