Tabor, postmaster of Hubbardston, ended his life by swallowing carbolic acid Monday. Wm. Langdon, a merchant of Hubbardston, confronted Tabor with the confession of his 13-year-old daughter, who had told him, he said, of Tabor’s treatment of her. Tabor admitted that Langdon’s charges were true, and said he was willing to give himself up to the authorities. He was informed that Sheriff Taylor would place him under arrest Tuesday morning. An hour later, Langdon called the sheriff, and said that he would not be needed as Tabor had cheated justice with poison. Tuesday morning Under-Sheriff Lowrey, accompanied by Attorney Carr and Coroner Boynton, went to Hubbardston to learn the facts concerning the death, but the evidence was so plain that no inquest was necessary. Mr. Tabor was aged sixty-four and had been postmaster for many years. He was a prominent republican and business man of the county. His death must have occurred at about nine o’clock in the evening. His son committed suicide similarly some years ago.
