Mrs. Tafel was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hacker and was born March 24, 1852. At the age of 20 she married John Tafel and four years later they moved to Ionia. Mr. Tafel died in 1901. Mrs. Tafel has lived in her present home 426 Allen street for the past sixty years. She was a charter member in the St. Johns Lutheran church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred Thomas of Cannonsburg, and Mrs. August Lempke, of Ionia; four sons, Louis Tafel, of Saginaw; Ferd Tafel, of Ionia; Robert Tafel, of Saginaw, and Helmuth Tafel of Ionia; thirty-one grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the home of her son, 652 North Jefferson street 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon June 30 and at 2:30 o’clock from the St. John’s Lutheran church. Rev. R. A. Rook will officiate and interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery.
