His death occurred at 4:30 Monday morning, after an illness of over a year. Tuberculosis, following an attack of pneumonia suffered about three years ago was the cause of his death. Mrs. Tafel was a graduate of the Ionia high school cass of 1916, and after graduating he enrolled in the civil engineering course at the M.A.C., being forced to give up his studies there after two years, owing to his poor health. In 1920 he suffered an attack of pneumonia, and in 1921 he was operated on for goiter. In April 1922 tuberculosis set in and he was taken to the Detroit tuberculosis sanitarium in October, where he remained until a month before his death, when he was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Albert A. Schroeder, of Detroit, where he spent his remaining days. Funeral services will be held at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Tafel, 529 North Jackson street at 1:30 Thursday afternoon, and at 2 o’clock from the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
