June 1, 1965 Robert H. Tafel, 75, of Saginaw died Sunday at 5:10 p.m. following a heart attack. He was born in Ionia and as a child attended St. John Lutheran school. He was employed by the Pere Marquette shops and moved to Saginaw in 1930 when the shops were transferred there. He has been retired several years. In 1912 he was married to the former Mary Pappenfus of Port Huron who passed away in 1954. In 1956 he was married to Emma Bauer, of Saginaw who survives. He is also survived by four sons, Herbert, Robert and Norman of Saginaw and LaVern of Milwaukee, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Yockey and Mrs. Maxine Myers of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ferdinand of Ionia and Helmuth of Eaton Rapids. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran church, Saginaw where the body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until time for the service.
