The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, January 3, 1970


Mrs. Augusta B. Tafel, 78, died Friday afternoon at the Ionia Manor, where she 
had been living for some time.  Born in Port Huron, October 13, 1891, she was a 
daughter of August and Matilda Lemke, and married Ferdinand W. Tafel in Grand 
Rapids, January 26, 1910.  He preceded her in death in 1965.  Mrs. Tafel was a 
member of St. Johns Lutheran church and the Ladies aid society.

Surviving are seven daughters: Mrs. J. P Reuter, Chicago; Mrs. Albert Combetta, 
Detroit; Mrs. Joseph Evans, Bridgman; Mrs. Ray Reed, Ionia; Mrs. Ray Smith, 
Grand Ledge; Mrs. Lawrence Timpe, Hobart, Ind., and Mrs. John Koyish of Muir; 
two sons, Raymond Tafel of Midland, and William of Williamston.  Also surviving 
is a brother Charles Lemke, of Grandville, 27 grandchildren and 26 great 
grandchildren.
