Tafel, 51, of Hill street, died Sunday morning at 1:55 o'clock at her home. She had been in ill health for the past year and submitted to two major operations, one in June and the other in October. She had been seriously ill since the last operation. Minnie K. Melzow was born Aug. 18, 18893 in the same house where she lived up to the time of her death and was the daughter of Louis C. and Wilhelmina Melzow. On May 25, 1915, she was married to Helmuth J. Tafel, Ionia township clerk. Mrs. Tafel was a lifelong member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran church an also a member of the Ladies' Aid society and the Luther society. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Otto B. Ruehs of Ionia and Mrs. Jay Braman of Lyons; a grandson, Ralph Ruehs and a granddaughter, Linda Braman; one brother, Louis C. Melzow of Royal Oak. A prayer service will beheld Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home on Hill street and services at 2:30 o'clock at St. Johns Lutheran church. The body will repose at the home until time for services at the church. The casket will be closed at the church. The Rev. R.A.
