Tafel, the well-known Pere Marquette watchman at the Depot street crossing, died at his farm home in Ronald, this morning at 4 o’clock. He died from poisoning, but whether the deadly drug was taken to allay neuralgic pains, to which he was frequently subject, or with suicidal intent, the family are not prepared to say. Deceased was usually of a jovial temperament. He was aged 53 years, and was a member of Ionia lodge of the A. O. U. W. ------------- The funeral service of Frederick C. Tafel will be conducted at the German Evangelical church, West Washington street, at 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Edwin G. Frye officiating. Interment in Highland Park.
