The Ionia Standard, Friday, December 17, 1897
Sophia Luder Tafel, relict of the late Frederick Tafel, died Wednesday at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Hahn.  Mrs. Tafel had attained the ample age 
of 81 years.  She was born in the Province Pomans, Germany, and was the 
faithful mother of eight children, seven of whom are yet living, viz: John, 
Frederick and Louis, of this city, and Mrs. Herman Hahn and Mrs. John Hoth, 
also of this city, and Mrs. Christian Rebfus, of Muir, and Mrs. Schultz, of 
Joliet, Ill.  Funeral will be on Friday afternoon from St. John’s Lutheran 
church, and interment will be beside her husband in Oak Hill.
