Taft, 89, of Ionia Route 2, who died Tuesday morning will be conducted by the Rev. Willis B. Hunting at the home of the deceased Friday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Balcom cemetery. She was born September 9, 1860, in Berlin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Adgate. She moved to Ionia township in 1862 and later attended Badder school. December 27, 1880, she married Frank Taft of Ionia and they lived all their lives on the farm where they moved when she was a bride. Mr. Taft died August 8, 1935. Mrs. Taft was a member of the LeValley church all her life. Mrs. Taft died Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at her home after being in poor health for some time and a bed-ridden invalid for 1½ years. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. George Croel of Lyons, Mrs. Clyde Stout, Ionia; Mrs. Floyd Schwerer at home, Mrs. Harry Callow of Ionia, and Mrs. John Beattie, of Clarksville; two adopted sons, Arthur and Mark Rice of Detroit, many grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Arton Benedict, of Ionia. A daughter, Myrtie, died at the age of nineteen.
