Ionia County News - Thursday, Jan. 12, 1933

Mrs. Jane Taft, 77, died at her home in Saranac Wednesday afternoon, January 11, at

four o'clock.
She was the daughter of Aaron Russell and Betty Longwell, who came to Ionia county 
from New York shortly after their marriage. Born in Keene township on January 16, 
1856, Mrs. Taft has always lived in the vicinity of her birth. Although she had 
suffered from arterio sclerosis for more than a year, she had been confined to her 
bed for only a few weeks. 

More than 60 years ago she was united in marriage with Alfred Taft, who with their 
son, James, of Keene township, survives her. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Merrit 
McCord of Easton, a brother, Aaron Russell of Cedar Springs, nine grandchildren and

two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock with 
burial at Pinkney.
