He was born June 21, 1924, in Maple Rapids, the son of Miles and Maggie Messer Tait. On June 4, 1947, he married Helen T. Riley in Hubbardston. He retired from Fisher Body in Lansing after 38 years of employment. He was a member of the American Legion Post 182 of Hubbardston and the Knights of Columbus. He served more than 35 years as the clerk for the village of Hubbardston. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hubbardston. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Hubbardston; one son, Robert Tait of Woodland; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Tait of Oxford, Susan and Dan Findlay of St. Johns, Kathleen and Robert Olsen of Carson City; 11 grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Doris Forech of Elsie, Pauline Swatman of Long Beach, Calif., Geraldine and Frank D’Amore of Port Richey, Fla.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joy Tait of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert and Gwenith Tait of St. Johns, Alfred and Marion Tait of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters –in-law, Fannie Tait of Remus and Mary See of Ruskin, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cecil and Willis Tait; and one sister, Dorthea. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Hubbardston, with Pastor William Reitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Hubbardston. Visitation will be at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A rosary service will be held today at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hubbardston Playground Fund or to the wishes of the family.
