Gertrude A. Talcott, 78, of 237 Jackson, Saranac, died at Blodgett Memorial 
Medical Center in Grand Rapids June 5 following a lingering illness.

She was born May 30, 1911 in Dickson City, Penn., the daughter of Walter and 
Hannah (Caffery) Knapp.
She graduated from Detroit Business University.  At one time, she had worked 
for Ionia County Probate Court.  She worked with her husband in a public 
accountant business in Saranac.  She served as Boston Township clerk.

She married Herbert M. Talcott in Detroit on Feb. 13, 1937.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, William R. Talcott of Chicago and James H. 
Talcott of Kalamazoo; one brother, Walter Bryans of Detroit; and four 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with the Rev. Michael Valentine of the First Christian Church 
officiating.  Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.  Friends may visit the family 
Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American 
Cancer Fund.
