Tallman, died Thursday about 1 pm after seven weeks illness. He was 64 years old and he leaves a wife formerly Mrs. Mary Collier but no children. He had been a resident of Ionia about six years coming here from Newaygo county. He served as a soldier in the civil war, enlisting at Hudson in Co D. 11th Mich. Cavalry, Oct 3, 1863. He was wounded in action and taken prisoner at Saltville, Va., Oct. 2, 1864; returned to regiment June 12, 1865, discharged by reason of close of war at Pulaski, Tenn., June 13, 1865. He was a member of G. A. R., but had never united with Borden post. He had been employed here in the Wagon Works. Funeral service at 2 pm Sunday, at the home on South Dexter street.
