His wife died only a few months ago and both were buried at Salem, where a son, Claud, resides. Another son, Charles, is in the grocery business at Olympia, Wash. Few Portland men were better known in the country tributary to this place than George Talmage, In the days when he bought stock and conducted a meat market. He was of a genial disposition and had a keen sense of humor. Crist Ryerson, Frank Sprout and Nate Stevens, all in the same line of business, were his contemporaries and many were the pranks they played upon each other, as well as on unsophisticated outsiders. It was many years ago that the Talmages moved West, first locating in Seattle. Both enjoyed fairly good health up to the time of their death.
