DIANA TANNER Another Pioneer of the County Passes Away - Funeral Wednesday. Another pioneer resident of Michigan, Mrs. Diana Tanner, passed away at 3:30 o'clock a.m., Tuesday, at her son's home, 435 North Jefferson street. She was a good woman, a kind and devoted mother, and a faithful member of the Church of Christ. For many weeks past her death has been hourly expected, and her suffering during her last days was such to create the greatest pity for her. Old age and dropsy were the cause of death. Mrs. Tanner would have been 88 years of age had she lived until the twenty- second of next November. Born in Vermont, she spent her early life there and in New Your state. She came to Michigan about 60 years ago. Her husband, Soloman Tanner, died 28 years ago in Berlin township, where they resided. Their home was blessed with fourteen children, of whom eight survive the mother: five sons, Judson Amos Tanner, of Sheridan; Marshall Winslow Tanner, of Berlin, Ionia County; Lorenzo A. Tanner, of Ionia; Perry Tanner of Orleans, Ionia county; and Carson Tanner, of Buffalo, New York; and three daughters, Lovisa Medora, wife of Wm. Coe, of Oakland county; Mary Elizabeth Minier, of Big Rapids; and Ida Adelle, wife of Oliver Loum, of Grand Rapids. Most of the family will attend the funeral, which was held from the Church of Christ at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, Interment in Balcom cemetery. Mrs. Tanner was taken seriously ill last April. The funeral services for Mrs. Tanner were held from the Church of Christ yesterday afternoon, and quite largely attended. Tuesday services for David B. Soule were also held from the same church, Both being pioneers of the county. Rev. G.K. Berry officiated.
