TANNER, ESTHER RUTH:
   SENTINEL-STANDARD, IONIA, MI, 3-19-1993:  "OBITUARIES - E. RUTH TANNER -
IONIA - E. Ruth Tanner, 69, of Ionia, died Wednesday evening at Metropolitan
Hospital in Grand Rapids.
   She was born January 26, 1924, in Ionia, the daughter of Abram and Ivah
Robinson Tanner and was educated at Ionia Schools.  She attended County Normal
and Western Michigan University and was a teacher all of her working life in the
Grand Rapids School system, retiring in June of 1982.
   She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association; a member of the Ionia
First Baptist Church; and a member of the Ionia Camp of the Rebeccah's.
   She is survived by two nieces, Jill Noll of Sheridan and Susan Perdue of
Stanwood; two great nephews; three great nieces; and cousins.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Marjorie Warren in
1982.
   Memorial services and committal will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ionia First
Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Bennett officiating.  Organist will be
Dorothy Horrocks.
   Burial will be in the spring in Balcom Cemetery.
   A memorial has been established for the First Baptist Church, in care of
Myers Memorial Chapel, Ionia."
