The Belding Banner, Thursday, March 27, 1913
Nellie J. Condie was born in Beachburg, Canada, September 5, 1858 and here she 
spent her girlhood and several years of young womanhood.  After teaching 
school for a number of years she came for a visit to Belding, Michigan, where 
she met Vernon B. Savage.  This acquaintance resulted in their marriage which 
occurred September 5, 1881.  Five years later Mr. Savage passed away leaving 
the wife with their young son Clarence V.

Mrs. Savage was united in marriage with Milo J. Tanner July 24, 1891.

Besides her immediate family, she is survived by two brothers and three 
sisters living in Canada also a brother in Montana.

Mrs. Tanner’s years in Belding were spent quietly in her home, she having 
little time or disposition for social duties or other outside work.  She 
proved herself a self sacrificing mother, a kind and thoughtful neighbor, and 
a steadfast friend.  The son has been tireless in his constant care of his 
mother through her long illness and no daughter could have shown a mother more 
loving devotion that did this daughter-in-law.  

Mrs. Tanner passed to another life early Monday morning, March 14, 1913.  Her 
friends are comforted through her assurance that all was well and that she was 
ready to go.

A short funeral service was conducted at the home by the Rev. Edrie Collins, 
on Tuesday afternoon.  The scriptural lesson was found in the beautiful and 
inspiring words of the 23rd and 121st Psalm.  Hymns tending to uplift and 
comfort the thoughts, were sung by Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Wortly playing the piano 
accompaniment.  The burial will be at the Childhood home of Mrs. Tanner, at 
Beachburg, Ontario, Canada.
