Tasker, 52, of 8231 Church St., Palo, died Tuesday at the Sheridan Community Hospital. He was born July 2, 1933 in Palo, the son of George and Blanche Tasker. He was a lifelong resident of Palo. He was a member of the Palo Baptist Church, a deacon and also on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Muir Volunteer Fire Department and was their training officer. He was a Michigan State Certified Fire Instructor. He was a member of the State of Michigan Arson Inspectors, and an associate member of the Clinton County Arson Squad. He was secretary-treasurer of the Ionia County Fire Association. He was employed as a security officer at Motor Wheel Corp. in Lansing. He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He married Mary Valentine on Aug. 11, 1956 in Palo. Surviving are his wife; one son, Jerry Tasker of Palo; one daughter, Brenda Webster of Palo; one brother, Charles Tasker of Palo; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Laskowski of Lansing and Mrs. Esther Davies of VanNuys, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Palo Baptist Church, the Rev. Elmer Katterjohn officiating. Burial will be in Palo Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 7 to 8:30p.m. at the Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home in Sheridan.
