Ionia Daily Standard – Thursday, 28 January 1892
Catharine, relict of George Tasker, died at her home on Section 2 of Ronald, 
last night, aged 72 years.  She was best known in Ionia as the mother f Mrs. 
John W. Baldie.  Mrs. Tasker was the second of five children born unto Mr. and 
Mrs. Mathew VanVleck, and came with her parents to Ionia county in 1838, when 
there was but one settler – Lockwood Yates – between Ionia and the farm which 
Mr. VanVleck purchased – 320 acres in what was then a part of Ionia township, 
lying just north of the town line of Palo.  Funeral will be from the Baptist 
church at Palo, Friday morning at 10 o’clock.
