Charles J. Tasma, 83, of Ionia passed away Oct. 2, 2011 at his home. He was 
born Nov. 20, 1927 in Grand Rapids, the son of Joseph and Clara (Wormnest) 
Tasma. 

Charles married Mary Lanz on Oct. 1, 1955 at First Baptist Church in Portland. 

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Portland, Wealth Street Business 
Alliance, and Gideons of Ionia. He was a past member of Wyoming Park Baptist 
Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Tasma of Ionia; children, 
Bonnie (Rick) Galloway of Pa., Paul Tasma of Ionia, Charles (Kim) Tasma of 
Sparta, Karen (Steve) Miller of Grand Rapids, Judith (Vince) Cody of Portland, 
Lou (Becky) Tasma of Belmont, John Tasma of Gillette, and Wyoming and Joel 
(Kelly) Tasma of Jenison; brother, Robert (Ann) Tasma of Holland; sisters, 
Joanne (William) Phelps of Kalkaska and Mary Alice Young of Grand Rapids; 20 
grandchildren; and five great grandchildren also survive. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willard; and his sister, 
Katherine.

Funeral Services for Charles will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First 
Baptist Church in Portland with Pastor Bruce A. Sabados officiating. Interment 
at Grandville Cemetery at 3 p.m. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
