Hazel (Lorraine) Taylor, age 92, formerly of Saranac passed away Tuesday, May 
10, 2005 in Lowell.  Lorraine was born March 19, 1918 in Woodbury, Michigan to 
Carl and Wreatha Green Reahm.  Her father died during the post W.W. I flu 
epidemic, leaving two very small children.  Their mother later married Dick 
Johnson of Lake Odessa.

Lorraine was an accomplished piano player, accompanying musical programs and 
operettas during her high school years.  She graduated from Lake Odessa High 
School in 1936.  She continued to enjoy music and the piano all the rest of her 
life.  Lorraine and Ervin Taylor were married February 23, 1941, while Erv was 
in the army.  The returned to Saranac to live after the war.  For many years 
they enjoyed vacations in their camper.  Since Erv’s death, Lorraine has lived 
at Cumberland Retirement Home in Lowell.  One of her greatest pleasures was a 
trip back to Saranac to observe the familiar and the new improvements in the 
village as well as the drive through ‘Erv Taylor’ Avenue.  Lunch at Henrietta’s 
usually included a visit with a former neighbor.

Surviving are Mrs. Robert Reahm and family of Grandville, Betty Anderson and 
family of Grand Haven, Andrea Darling of Grand Rapids, Wayne Rose and family of 
Saranac, Robert Johnson and family of Greenville, Curtis Johnson and family of 
Lake Odessa and Fran and Jackie Borup and family of Saranac.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac 
with Rev. John Madvig officiating.  Interment at Saranac Cemetery.  A memorial 
has been established to purchase a park bench in memory of Erv and Lorraine.
