Taylor, former clerk of Ionia county, a brother of Judge J. Clark Taylor, died last Sunday morning at Sault Ste. Marie, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Mr. Taylor came to Ionia from Ohio in 1855, at the age of 10 years. He remained a resident here for 30 years, being active in business, in political, and in social affairs. Many residents of that period remember him as a delightful companion, highly esteemed by his fellow citizens. He was married to Miss Louise Goodrich, of a well known Ionia family of that period, October 10, 1867. To them four children were born, two dying in infancy and two in early maturity. His wife died about 30 years ago, leaving him entirely without family. He was county clerk two terms here about 40 years ago. He has not been a resident here for over 30 years, but has been an occasional visitor, and often saw old-time friends on their vacation trips north, as he has been a resident of Sault Ste. Marie for over 20 years. He was particularly fortunate in this respect this fall, greeting several Ionia parties during the last few weeks. His age was 79 years, but his health seemed good, and in his sunny way he expressed the opinion that he was good for at least ten years more. His only direct descendant is a grandson, Edward S. King, who is married and has a home in Royal Oak, in Detroit. At present he is in Roosevelt Legion hospital, Battle Creek, but he will attend the funeral, to be held in this city at a date to be duly announced. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the St. John Episcopal church. Burial took place at Oak Hill.
