Nov. 9, 1883 DEATH OF MRS. C.R. TAYLOR Mention was made in THE STANDARD LASAT WEEK OF THE DEATH OF Mrs. Taylor. As she was widely known here, the following obituary from the South Bend Tribune that will be read wit interest: Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late ex-county treasurer, Robert Nicar, and the oldest of the family except a brother who lost his life in the Mexican war. She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and moved with the Nicar family to Mishawaka in 1835. There she became acquainted with her future husband, Mr. C.R. Taylor, who was connected with the St. Joseph Iron Co. They lived in Mishawaka for a time and then settled in Wisconsin, living part of the t ime at Mayville and latterly at Berlin. The year before the civil war they moved to Richmond, Virginia, and lived there and in Georgia during the civil war. At its close they returned north and settled in Ionia, Mich., and from there came to South Bend about eight years ago, and except a brief residence in Detroit, ever since resided here. She had been an invalid for nearly four years and during the last two months was confined to her bed, here suffering the most excruciating pains, but bearing them all with a fortitude which showed her Christian character - a character which was Exemplified through her whole life by acts of charity and deeds of kindness that placed her Christianity far above church membership along. She was conscious through all her sufferings, up to within a few hours of her death, and appeared to forget her intense physical anguish in her great love for the dear ones gathered about her dying bed and saw pass away the loving wife, mother and sister. Mrs. Taylor was fifty six years old. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and five children-- Mrs. J.C. Taylor, of Ionia; George R. and Robert N., the hardware merchants, Mrs. Gordon Murray and Eddie, She also leaves two brothers - Capt. Ed. Nicar (who lived with her many years when a boy), and Virginius Nicar, and two sisters- Mrs. J.L. Taylor, of Ionia, and Mrs. Sarah Tutt, of this city.
