March 12, 1915 William B. Taylor, one of the real type of Ionia county pioneers, died quite unexpectedly on Thursday at midday, at the home of his son John, on East Lafayette street. He was enduring an attack of Pneumonia, but his condition was not regarded as critical, though at his advanced age, 77 years, it was serious from the beginning. He was a brother of the late Palmer and John L. Taylor. Two sons and one daughter survive, Dick K. and John Taylor of this city, and Mrs. W. Scott of Butte, Montana, and the wife. He was first married in 1863 to Helen Kelsay of south Ionia township, whose death occurred ten years later, in 1873. Their home was many years on the farm about 2 ˝ miles south of city, on the Bellevue road, but the recent years Mr. and Mrs. Taylor have made their home with their son John and wife of this city. Mr. Taylor was for many years a member of the Masonic lodge of Ionia, and an esteemed member, as well as an esteemed citizen. The funeral was attended from the home where he passed away, at 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, Rev. M. L. Marshall officiating, with interment in the Balcom cemetery in Berlin township, near the old farm home.
