Miss Taylor was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Taylor. At the death of her mother, which occurred when Josephine was a few days old, she was taken into the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Taylor, by whom she was reared as a daughter. In 1912 graduate of Ionia high school, Ms. Taylor attended Alma college. For a year she taught in the Central graded school in Ionia, but gave up the teaching profession and took a course in the Marshall Field School of Salesmanship in Chicago, thereafter making salesmanship her career. She was at one time with Marshall Field and later was personnel director for the Weibolt Co., of Chicago, where she remained until illness forced her to leave. In girlhood, Miss Taylor was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Ionia.
