Merle was born April 30, 1919 in Six Lakes, the daughter of Alton and Margaret Jenkins Wood. She was a member of the Doric Chapter 75 Order of the Eastern Star of the Belding and First Congregational Church of Belding. Merle was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking. She loved to travel and was proud that she was able to visit every state in the union except Alaska. She was married to Avery Taylor and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded by her parents; son, Larry Taylor in 1980; and three sisters, Bessie Yeomans, Elma Boggs and Thelma Bellows. Merle is survived by her granddaughters and their spouses, Val and Kurt Lipka of Greenville, Diane and Jeff Gross of Orleans; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Byron Davey of First Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeview. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church in Belding.
