June 18, 2013 Richard E. Taylor, 72, of Ionia passed away June 16, 2013 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. He served in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam Era. Richard was employed by Oldsmobile at Plant 2 in Lansing for 34 years. He worded as a Journeyman Pipe Fitter Journeyman Millwright and a Safety Training Instructor for 20 years until retiring in 2000. Richard was a member of Ionia Nazarene Church where he was a former Sunday School Bus Driver and United Way where he served on the board for 28 years. He also served on three trips to the Mission Fields for building projects. Richard is survived by his children, Jeremy (Shelly) Taylor of Ionia and Jennifer Taylor of San Francisco, Calif.; father, Robert Culver of Lake Odessa; grandson Austin James Taylor of Ionia; brother, Roger (Janet) Taylor of Lakeview; sisters, Rosalie (Ron Brown of Iowa, RuthAnn (Dick) Hinkle of Arizona and Rhoda Lehman of Hastings; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret in 1991 and two brothers, Ron and Robert. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21 at Church of the Nazarene in Ionia with Pastor Ron Bergan officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Church of Nazarene Youth Camp.
