Taylor, wife of Cap. J.C. Taylor, died at 4:40 this morning at the residence, corner of Harter street and Lincoln avenue. For two months she has struggled with sickness, but it was know thought she was in danger until Thursday, when she was taken worse and became unconscious, never recovering. Her death is the more unexpected as she felt better on Wednesday that at any time during her illness. She was the daughter of C. Reed Taylor, a pioneer of Ionia County was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, (unreadable) 30, 1847. Since 1866 she has resided in Ionia county and was married there October 9, 1867. The husband and six children survive. They are Jean, Florence, Alice and Martha, of Ionia; Rev. C. Reed Taylor, of Kansas City, and Richard of Chicago. Mrs. Taylor was a prominent resident of the city, of high character, loveable, conscientious and kind. As a member of the community her loss will be keenly felt. Her life was spent working to the best interests of her home, her family and the city in which she lived. She has been a lifelong member of the Episcopal church, where she was a regular and devoted attendant. Always faithful in her home duties, a mother to be proud of, a genial neighbor and friend, her loss is one in which the whole community feels the deep sorrow.
