Teachout, 56, of Lyons died Sept. 18, 1998. He was born in Portland Sept. 13, 1942. He retired in 1997 from General Motors after 34 years of faithful service He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland and the Portland Knights of Columbus #2168, 4th Degree. He also served 25 years as volunteer for the Portland Fire Department and was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his wife of four years, Vicki J. (Ackerson), daughter, M ichelle A. (Joel) VanSlambrouck of Chesterfield; sons, Christopher D., Scott C. (Shelly), and Michael W. (Kathy), all of Portland; nine grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Sydelle) of Cadillac and Robert (Edna) of Sunfield; and sisters, Margaret (Richard) Clements of Portland and June (L.D.) Burger of Vermontville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol E. (Spitzley), in 1993 and a son, Matthew, in 1983. Funeral mass was celebrated Sept. 21 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. Chris Rouech officiating. Rev. Scott Otis of the Portland United Methodist Church assisted at the Sept. 20 scripture service. Rite of Committal followed at Danby Cemetery in Danby Township. Contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
