Teaker, an old resident of Muir, died at the Soldiers Home, Grand Rapids, April 18, 1909. Deceased was born in Prussia, Germany, May 18, 1827, and came to this country in 1847. In 1857 he was married to Miss Susannah Crook of Findlay, Ohio. Eight children were born to this union, of whom four survive, Mrs. Peter Herdman of Mountain View, Ark.; Mrs. Wm. Doxtator of Lyons; Bert Teaker of Ionia, and Merley Teaker of Rushton, Mich. In 1861 Mr. Teaker enlisted in the army as a private at Warsaw, Ind., in Co. C., and received his discharge at Washington, D.C. Dec. 5, 1863. In 1885 Mr. and Mrs. Teaker came to Muir, where Mr. Teaker spent the remainder of his life with the exception of the past eight winters at the Soldiers Home. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Wm. Wheeler and Miss Lulu Wheeler of Kalamazoo, Grace Wheeler of Belding and Mrs. Maud Van Wormer of Shaftsburg. Besides a wife he leaves four children and thirteen grandchildren to mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving father.
