He, with a nephew, Beryl Townsend, and a Mr. Cramer, one of his pupils, were camping for a few days. The boat drifted from shore and Charles attempted to recover it but went down just before reaching the boat. The autopsy revealed no water in the lungs and it is thought he suffered heart disease from the plunge into the cold water. All efforts to revive life were in vain. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Teeter of this village. He was a graduate of the Woodland school and of Manchester college. The past year he taught in the Sunfield school acting as coach and was to return to this position again next year. He was active in Y.M.C.A. and Boy Scout work and in the church organizations in all of which he gave very efficient leadership. He was chosen and loved as a leader by both old and young. The very large funeral and profusion of floral tributes expressed the sorrow of many friends in their loss. Relatives from Ohio, also many who had been school mates at college came for the funeral. The young man who had been his coach represented his college in bringing to this community their expression of appreciation in having had Charles Teeter in their school work, saying the president had said they had never had in their college one who had had the influence there for good that he had. Professor Wenegar, in whose classes he had taken work preached the funeral sermon. Interment was in Woodland cemetery.
