Ionia Daily Sentinel, 9 Sep 1946

Samuel L. Terry, 85, died at the Ionia County Memorial hospital Saturday 
evening at 6:10 o’clock.  Born at Sparta, N. J., November 28, 1860, he came to 
Ionia with his parents at the close of the Civil War in 1865.

On July 15, 1883, he was united in marriage with Nellie Soper of Gowen, who 
preceded him in death nine years ago.  To their union were born seven children, 
five of whom survive.  They are Clyde C. Terry of Flint, Eselle Terry of Ann 
Arbor, Mrs. Nellie Kruger of Cadillac, and Mrs. Maziebell Churchill and Mrs. 
Myra Popendick of Ionia.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven 
great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Myra Arntz and Mrs. Elizabeth Jack 
of Ionia.

For many years Mr. Terry was a lumber inspector, but since his retirement had 
made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Myra Popendick, 111 Rich street.

Funeral services will be held from the Stone funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 
2 o’clock, with the Rev. Elden Burkette officiating.  Burial will be at 
Highland Park cemetery.
