Dec. 17, 1920 MRS. CHAS. TEW, SR. AMONG THOSE TRANSPORTED. Strictly a Home Woman, Always Looking Well to the Ways of Her Household. Last Monday evening at 9 o'clock, Mrs. Ada Tew passed from this earthly home to that hereafter from which no traveler returns. She had been in poor health for the past two years but had only taken to her bed a few weeks ago. She had always lived in Ionia county and was a resident of Lake Odessa for 26 years. She was a homemaker in the fullest sense of the word, caring little for society except the society of her family and her church which was the Methodist, being a member for a number of years. She was the wife of the Senior brother of E. C. Tew & sons, and leaves behind her husband, a daughter Mrs. Mary Caswell and a son, Charles Tew, Jr., also two grandchildren, Dennard Caswell and little little Gertrude Tew. The funeral was held Thursday at the M. E. Church, the pastor, Rev. Nagler preaching and the music was by Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Dann, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Goodemoot and Mrs. Thomas Johnson. Interment was at Lakeside OBITUARY Miss Ada B. Horning was born near Ionia, June 9, 1866, and passed to her Heavenly Home Dec. 3, 1920, in Lake Odessa, aged 54 years, 6 months and four days. In early life she gave her heart to her Master and lived a consecrated life and devoted her time to her loved ones. On Dec. 19, 1883 she was united to marriage to Charles E. Tew. Four children blessed this home, two of whom died in infancy. The living are Mrs. Mary Caswell and Charles Jr., who with their companions and children, Dennard Caswell and Gertrude Tew together with the father survive to mourn their irreparable loss. Three sisters, Mrs. Charles Oliver of Jackson, Mrs. Jenple De Beautic of Detroit and Mrs. Albert Campbell of Denver share in this bereavement. For four years she has been in a state of declining health, until she succumbed to her present illness. She was a loving, devoted wife and patient mother, and her last sickness gave evidence of her true Cristian character. "A face all glorified with light, That grows more bright as years increase. A calm brow crowned with silvery white, Eyes filled with kindly peace. Pure love that knows no selfish thought- Refining pain and patient care; Brave words of hope and deeds will wrought-Have traced soft lines of beauty there. Not all great deeds that men have done. Not all worlds wisdom understood, Can match the laurel she has won-The wonderous crown of Motherhood" Additional Comments: Lakeside Cem-#8-980 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/t/tew36694nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 3.1 Kb
