Thacher—In Ionia on the 12th inst. of scarlet fever, Nettie A., eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac E. Thacher, aged 11 years, 3 months and 14 days. Among the many deaths of children which have occurred during the present season, not one has inflicted a deeper wound, or has been more universally lamented, than that of Nettie Thacher. She was a lovely daughter, an affectionate sister, an interesting Sabbath school scholar, a dear playmate. Her heart was full of the tenderest sympathy for the sick and suffering. Even in her last sickness she manifested an anxious concern for the recovery of others. On her death bed she found delight in singing the beautiful songs she had learned at the Sabbath school. She loved to pray, and in her closet and in the closing hours of life, she found access for her Heavenly Father, whose adopted child she was. It is the comfort of her parents and friends to know that, though passed from their sight, she still lives. “She is not dead—the child of our affection, but gone into that school where she no longer needs our poor protection, and Christ himself doth rule.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/t/thacher20422nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
