Mr. Thayer was born in Shelbourne Falls, Mass., Sept. 5, 1855 and was three years of age when his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Thayer, came to Michigan homesteading on what is now the George Thayer farm in Ronald township. He was united in marriage with Miss Addie Hudson in 1887, who with their son Albert Thayer of Sheridan and their daughter, Mrs. George Hart, of Stanton survive him. Other relatives are two brothers, George Thayer, of Ronald, and E. E. Thayer of Sheridan and a sister, Mrs. Emma Summers of Lansing. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 from the Methodist church in Sheridan.
