E. Thayer, who died in the Edmore hospital Friday from the effects of a fractured hip he suffered August 24. He would have been 95 years old September 7. He was the last of a family of 11 children of which he was the next to the oldest. Born in Franklin county, Massachusetts, he moved with his parents to Michigan when he was 13 years old. His father, Elisha Thayer, took up land form the government in Ronald township. He married Rachel Greenhoe of Sheridan and since that time made his home in that locality. He was a former deputy sheriff of Montcalm county, and a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges. He was a former member of the Maccabees. Among those who attended the funeral services were Allen Stebbins, A. J. Hemingway, Mrs. George Thayer, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whipple and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Getz, of Ionia.
