Portland Observer - Thurs. Jan. 23, 1879

Mrs. Susannah Thayer, mother of Isaac H. Thayer, of this city, died at the 
residence of the later on Thursday, the 16th inst., aged 86 years. She had 
enjoyed excellent health until the Friday previous, when she was stricken with 
paralysis. She was a member of a family of 11 children, all of whom save the 
youngest daughter, who is now 78 years old, lived to be over 80 years of age. 
Her funeral occurred from Mr. Thayer’s residence on Saturday afternoon, and was 
attended by her numerous friends in this vicinity.
