NAOMI JOYCE THAYER, 72
Naomi Joyce Thayer, age 72 of Ionia, MI, passed away on May 18, 2019.

She was born in Boulder, CO. on December 14, 1946, the daughter of James and 
Wanda (Boden) McKay. She married Rick Thayer on May 14, 2002, in Ionia. Naomi 
worked as a nurse at Owosso memorial Hospital and later as a corrections 
officer at Riverside Correctional facility. She was a member of Beta Sigma 
Phi and Zion Church. She loved singing and was in the choir.

Surviving are her husband, Rick of Ionia; children, Deb (Dave) Converse of 
Whitmore Lake, David (Pam) Hann of Greenville; stepchildren, Rick Thayer II 
of Ionia, Tamara Stamper of Rodney; grandchildren, Joshua, Malory, Cassidy, 
Joie, Caleb, Tiffany, Jessica, Ronald, Robby, Zachary, Micci, McKenzie, Joel 
and Portia; many great-grandchildren; brothers,James (Brenda) McKay of 
Owosso, Mark (Diane) McKay of Ohio, Peter (Cindy) McKay of Owosso and Brian 
(Diane) McKay of Durand.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepdaughter Traci and son-in-law 
Paul Stamper.

Funeral service will be held at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Friday, May 
24, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours 
prior to the service. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Zion
